Seeing off winter, the international students of the Preparatory Department participated in memorable educational and sporting events.
Within the project ‘Friendship without Borders’, foreign students from China visited Gymnasium No. 1 of Novopolotsk. They prepared a presentation ‘National Traditions and Culture of the People's Republic of China’ in English to meet high school students.
The centuries-long traditions of China include architecture, writing, traditional medicine and unique ancient legends of the Chinese people. The students introduced the ten most popular festivals of their country:
- Chinese New Year
- Lantern Festival
- Dragon Boat Festival
- Mid-Autumn Festival
- Hungry Ghost Festival
- Chunyang Festival
- Laba Festival
- Spring Lantern Festival
- Water-Sprinkling Festival
- Harbin Ice and Snow Festival
High school students learnt about the oldest branch of Chinese arts and crafts called ceramics. They also watched a video about traditional Chinese theatre, in which only men are allowed to play.
The sports event ‘Jolly Starts’ united the students of the Preparatory Department from different countries and attracted them to physical training.
The event was held under the motto ‘The important thing is not to win, but to take part’. The competition programme included a lot of interesting activities, and friendship was the winner. All participants were charged with positive emotions and energy to continue their studies after the holidays.
