On May 6-7, at Polotsk State University there took place a Seminar ‘Word-Text –Context. Methods and ways of analysis applied for Literature works and Literature Process research’. The Seminar was devoted to the jubilee of the outstanding scholar of PSU, PhD, Head of the Department of World Literature and Culture Studies, Alexander Gugnin.
The Rector of PSU, Dmitry Lazovsky, had an opening speech. He highlighted the energy and persistence, that Dr Gugnin applies for every endeavor. During his work at Polotsk State University, Alexander Gugnun helped many young scholars to find their way in the world of Literature.
Alexander Gugnin is the founder of the Department of World Literature and Culture Studies at PSU. This Department is very unique in the way it combines many humanities, and its lecturers teach the disciplines to PSU students of all Faculties.
The representatives of University Faculties congratulated Mr Gugnin on his jubilee. A very unusual gift was prepared by the IT Faculty – now, on Wikipedia there is a web page devoted to Alexander Gugnin. The greetings from the Faculty of History and Philology sounded in all languages taught at PSU.
