Inga Zenkova, Head of the Department of Economics, Management and Economic Theory:

– For two years we’ve been achieving this result. Every step on this way gave us a lot of new things as for Master’s students, so for those, who took part in the implementation of the programme.

Master’s students

The way to the Double Diploma was very interesting, full of various events. Apart from multiply courses, including Regional economy and management or Regional social and cultural processes, the students got an opportunity to get acquainted with culture, history and economy of their neighbouring country.

During the study at Rezekne Academy of Technologies our young researchers from PSU have plunged into the European system of education where different cultures, traditions, scientific directions and mentalities collide. Master’s students had a chance to implement their joint projects and share their knowledge with each other about peculiarities of regional development in the Republic of Belarus and Latvia.

Master’s students from Latvia also visited Polotsk State University. They took part in the conferences, start-up project competition, seminars at JSC Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange in Minsk. It is just a small part of their cultural and educational programme that has been implemented at our university.

Finally, our Master’s students have come to the final stage of their study process – the defence of Master’s dissertation. Our students paid attention to very relevant problems – social, ecological and economic potential of regions in Belarus, the banking system of Azerbaijan and Belarus, possibilities to develop green economy in Latvia, the role of non-material cultural heritage of Latgale in the development of Latgale regional planning.

All the difficulties and all unforgettable moments connected with their study process have been left behind.

On June 29, 2018 the graduation ceremony for the first graduates of this Master’s programme was held. They’ve been awarded one more Diploma at Rezekne Academy of Technologies.

We hope that it is just the beginning. The start for active development of joint Master’s degree programme in English – Regional planning and development – together with Rezekne Academy of Technologies. It is the beginning of a new live for our Master’s graduates, who have gained knowledge, skills and competencies which are necessary for their career and personal growth.
