In December of 2019, the Department of World Literature and Foreign Languages of PSU and the Department of Slavic and Baltic Studies, Finnish, Dutch and German of Stockholm University (Sweden) launched a joint tandem-project. The project is supervised by teacher of Russian Åke Zimmermann (on the part of Sweden) and teacher of Swedish Yauhen Papakul (on the part of Belarus).

Stockholm University

There are more than 40 people involved in the project from both sides. The purpose of the project is cooperative learning of foreign languages. 2nd- and 3rd-year PSU linguistic students who began to study Swedish this year participate in the project. Every PSU participant works in a pair with a student from Stockholm who began to study Russian at Stockholm University this year. The students will be trying to speak Swedish and there’s no doubt they’ll face some problems when communicating at first. This will be the moment when English gives a helping hand. Besides, English speaking practice will also be an excellent result of the project.

The tandem-project will run until the end of the 2019/2020 academic year. Perhaps, during this time we will carry out some minor projects aiming at more specific cultural and social research.
