On August 27-28 2016, the Open Rubik’s Cube Competition «PSU OPEN 2016» took place at Polotsk State University. 40 Speedcubers from Belarus and Russia took part in this event. The competition was organized due to the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and the department of educational work with university youth, Novopolotsk organizations of public unions «BRSM» and «Belarusian fund of peace».
During two days the participants competed in 17 disciplines including solving Rubik’s Cube blindfolded, one handed. The competition was full of records. 5 national and 2 world records were set during the championship.
NATIONAL RECORDS:
- 4x4 Cube – Vladislav Kaminsky (Minsk, Belarus) – single attempt 33.53.
- 5x5 Cube – Andrey Molchan (Minsk, Belarus) – average time 1:14.18, single attempt 1:07.81.
- Square-1 – Ustin Vashchenko (Novopolotsk. Belarus) – average time 12.62.
- Clock – Iliya Tereshko (Saint Petersburg, Russia) – average time 6.55.
- 4x4 Cube: Blindfolded – Roman Strakhov (Moscow, Russia) – single attempt 2:07.00.
WORLD RECORDS:
- 5x5 Cube: Blindfolded - Roman Strakhov (Moscow, Russia) – single attempt 5:01.40.
- Rubik'sCube: Fewestmoves – Vladislav Ushakov (Novopolotsk, Polotsk State University, Radio Engineering faculty).
Vladislav is the first among Belarusians who has set a world record!
