In March 2019, the delegation of Polotsk State University headed by Rector Dmitry Lazovsky, visited Dushanbe, the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan. The main aim of this visit was the strengthening of cooperation with the universities of Tajikistan and the opening of the joint faculty of Polotsk State University and the Technological University of Tajikistan.

The following university authorities attended the solemn opening of the joint faculty: Rector of PSU Dmitry Lazovsky, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of PSU Yury Golubev, Rector of TUT Ilkhom Amonzoda, First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Quality Management of Education Makhmoud Toshmatov, Vice-Rector for Innovational and Educational Technologies Mirzo Yusupov,  Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Social Affairs Khayol Boboyev. At the ceremony, Khuboni Sorbon was appointed Dean of the joint faculty.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed a number of administrative, organizational and educational matters concerning the new faculty running. In particular, the parties agreed on the plan of measures for bilateral cooperation agreement implementation and its extension.  Besides, they discussed scientific and methodological resources support in accordance with the requirements of the Belarusian educational standards, developed mechanisms for  academic results recognition of students, who will have been trained for two years at the Technological University of Tajikistan to continue training at Polotsk State University.

In 2019, the Joint PSU-TUT Faculty offers all citizens of Tajikistan and citizens from other countries including Belarus and CIS to study the following two Bachelor degree programs:

Yury Golubev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at PSU, shared the information about the joint faculty: “The enrolment to the Technological University of Tajikistan will be held in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The training at the joint faculty will be provided in Russian in two stages in accordance with the integrated curriculum, developed by Polotsk State University and agreed with the Technological University of Tajikistan.

The first stage, which is the first two years of study, will be held at TUT. The second stage will be held at PSU in Belarus. On successful finishing the course and successful defense of a diploma project, the graduates will obtain a state-recognized higher education diploma of the Republic of Belarus.

Prospective students who don’t know Russian good enough to be taught at PSU, have an opportunity to take a preparatory course at the Technological University of Tajikistan.”

At the end, the education process and leisure activities organization were presented to the authorities of the Technological University of Tajikistan.

PSU representatives visited some secondary educational establishments in Dushanbe. Besides, they discussed some issues concerning the mechanisms to perform the enrollment of Tajik citizens for the joint faculty, inform about the conferences, summer schools and other events organized by PSU. Moreover, they visited the capital enterprises of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan and an enterprise in Nurak that will be used as places for students’ practice and PSU scientific research results presentation.

Our delegates had a meeting with the authorities of Tajik National University. During the negotiations, the parties discussed collaboration plans for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate training, joint participation in the programs of academic mobility, scientific research arrangement, joint education programs implementation in the specialties “Practical Psychology” and “Tourism and Hospitality”.

Besides, Dmitry Lazovsky and Yury Golubev held negotiations with the authorities of some other universities in Dushanbe. Our Tajik colleagues were offered to consider the opportunity for the staff to take professional development and retraining courses at PSU. Moreover, they were offered to discuss the topics for joint innovation and research projects to attract investment from international funds.

The successful visit to Tajikistan gives a good reason to count on maintaining mutually beneficial cooperation between PSU and Tajik universities and increasing the number of our partners in the country.
