Plasma electron sources and cathode-ray installations for engineering

Electronic sources with a plasma emitter form sharply focused or broad beams for electronic technologies: welding, melting, soldering, modification of the electrophysical properties of surfaces. The sources may be applied instead of traditional hot cathode sources in technological installations in mechanical and instrument engineering, in integrated electronics, and in plasma-chemical installations.

Competitive advantages:

  • increased resource by 5-10 times
  • improved performance
  • design simplicity and the absence of expensive and rare metals

Performance

  • Accelerating voltage, 10...30 kW
  • Beam current; up to 0,5 A
  • Beam diameter: - focused, 05... 1 mm - broad, up to 180 mm
  • Operating pressure, 10-3...10-5 mmHg
  • The depth of welding penetration (depending on the beam power) is 0.8-10 mm
  • Depth of hardening (depending on the surface area) is up to 1 mm

Source description

The sources contain a low-temperature plasma generator based on low-voltage discharge with a cold hollow cathode, (hollow anode for broad beams forming) electrode accelerating and focusing systems. As a power supply system, a power supply system for technological cathode-ray installations with hot cathode guns can be used when replacing the cathode glow block in them with a discharge power supply unit, which does not cause significant difficulties.

Application

Instrument and mechanical engineering In the Republic of Belarus - gear welding, in Russian Federation - electron beam welding installations, coatings, liquid, and solid-state hardening, composite material sintering.

Patent protection

The construction of the plasma electron source is protected by the patents of the Republic of Belarus.

Suggestions

  • development and transfer of a set of engineering documents for sources and a discharge power supply unit
  • shipping, installation, and adjustment of the sources at the customer's plant
  • Co-production of installations based on the proposed plasma electron sources
