Teaching activities

She has been working at Polotsk State University since 2004. During 17 years, she has worked her way up from an assistant to the head of the Department of Economy. Specializes in the fundamental economic disciplines ‘Economic Theory’, ‘Microeconomics’, ‘Macroeconomics’, ‘International Economics’, as well as ‘Human Resource Management’, ‘Sustainable Development Policy Planning’.
She develops the Chinese direction at Polotsk State University through the implementation of educational programmes at the 2 stage of higher education ‘Economics’ in English for residents of the People's Republic of China and through the Center for Chinese Language and Culture of PSU.
Annually organizes a business project competition ‘StartUp: youth and businesses’ on the basis of Polotsk State University. The goals of the competition are to develop and strengthen the entrepreneurial activity of young people, as well as to promote the education of a literate, businesslike, active personality capable of thinking innovatively and achieving success. The organization of the annual week ‘Economic Marathon’, which consists of a number of scientific events organized and conducted by the Department of Economics and the Center for Startups and Entrepreneurial Initiatives.
She has been managing the implementation of the Master's educational programme in English ‘Regional Planning and Development’ since 2016 as a result of a joint international educational project of Polotsk State University and Rezekne Technological Academy (Rezekne, Latvia).

Scientific interests

  • Conceptual framework for reconciliation of higher education system and employment rates
  • Methods for workforce planning and development of the Vitebsk region
  • Development of the theoretical foundations for achieving balance at various levels of the economic system

In 2010, she successfully defended her PhD on the ‘Employment Balance at the Labour Market: Theoretical and Methodological Principles of Provision’. Then, she continued her education in the doctoral programme at BSU. In 2012, she was awarded the academic title of associate professor in the specialty ‘Economics’. In 2020, she completed her doctoral studies at BSU and was recommended to defend her doctoral dissertation on innovative forms of employment.
The most interesting projects implemented under the leadership of I. Zenkova in the field of science and education:
  • Models of reproduction of intellectual capital in the new economy to ensure national competitiveness (2015-2019)
  • ‘Formation of economic growth points as a basic economic strategy for the development of the region’ (2016-2019) – co-executor
  • ‘Theoretical and practical foundations of optimizing employment and modeling effective distribution of labor resources in the Republic of Belarus’, (04/18/2017 – 03/31/2019) – Head
  • International technical assistance project ‘Improving social integration by organizing events and improving social services in Kraslavsky and Polotsk municipalities’ (2018-2020, Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the Polotsk District Executive Committee) – co-executer
  • International technical assistance project ‘Creating a sustainable infrastructure to support the development of startups and small businesses in the regions of Belarus ‘Local initiative ‘Into business through films’ (November 2019, executer)
  • Organisation of a workshop on the topic: ‘The role of the Senator Fulbright Programme in the development of international cooperation’ (Peter Tumanoff, Professor of Economics at Marquette University, Milwaukee, USA)
  • Work as part of the expert group to determine the priorities of the region's development ‘Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Vitebsk region for 2016-2025’
