Not long ago Polotsk State University solemnly celebrated its 50th anniversary.  Today, on September 14th, 2018 we can’t but remember about one more important date, which opened a new stage in our glorious and centuries-old history.

Exactly 25 years ago, on September 14th, 1993 Novopolotsk Polytechnic Institute was reorganized into a classical university called Polotsk State University.

On October 8th, 1993 by the order of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Ernst M. Babenko, Doctor of Engineering and Professor, became the rector of the new university.

The Order

Soon after that the presentation of Polotsk State University was held in the form of republican scientific and practical conference “The Role of the University in the Regional Development”. Among the participants of the conference were leaders of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Vitebsk Region, Polotsk and Novopolotsk Cities as well as rectors and vice rectors of universities of Belarus

The speakers expressed their confidence that Polotsk State University would have a good place among Belarusian universities and become the key to the successful development of both the Polotsk land and the whole Republic of Belarus.

The aspiration for the highest goals and loyalty to the traditions of education and science of the Polotsk land on the part of the university administration as well as hard-work and talent, creative inspiration and responsibilities of the lecturers, personnel and students, true kindness and support of numerous reliable friends made the most ambitious plans a reality. Today, 25 years after the significant event, PSU continues to feel confident about the future. There are new horizons further!
