On May 22-23, 2012, International Scientific Conference “Polotsk in history and culture of Europe” was held on the basis of PSU. The founders of the Conference were the Ministry of Education, the National Academy of Belarus, Polotsk National Historical and Cultural Museum-Preserve, Polotsk City Executive Committee.
130 participants, including more than 20 representatives of the leading scientific community in Polish, Russian, Latvian and Ukrainian took part in the Conference.
Participants read scientific reports in the five sections: ‘Archaeology of Polotsk and adjacent areas’; ‘Medieval Polotsk’; ‘Polotsk during the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Russian Empire’; ‘Polotsk land in the 20th century’; ‘The cultural space of Polotsk land’. In the sections scientific discussion was developed.
