On March, 26-27, days of the German language and culture took place at Polotsk State University. According to the tradition lecturers of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) prepared reports and held workshops for students who study German.
The students of Minsk, Grodno and Vitebsk visited Polotsk State University as guests of the days of the German language and culture. Lars Endraytsik, who had worked at the department of World literature and foreign languages for 3 years as a DAAD lecturer, was a special guest.
The event started with the opening speech of the Dean of the faculty of history and philology Natalia Lysova, the head of the department of world literature and foreign languages A. Gugnin and the head of German section T. Gordeenok.
All the participants congratulated Antye Zommerfeld, a DAAD lecturer, with her birthday and sang a German song in honor of her.
The first day was devoted to the report «Scandals in German literature» presented by Antye Zommerfeld and Almut Myuller. They also held a series of seminars together with Lars Endraytsik and Andre Byom. At the end the students of PSU and other universities took part in a quiz in history, culture and politics of Germany. The second day was devoted to the reports of DAAD lecturers Lars Shmidt and Andre Byom.
The DAAD lecturers also took part in a quiz about Belarus, which became a good tradition during the days of the German language and culture.
The event ended up with the concert «Deutsch mit Spa?» («German with humor») presented by students. Different sketches, songs, video presentations and poems were the part of the whole performance.
After the concert Tatsiana Gordeenok congratulated all the winners in different nominations.
Almut Myuller also thanked her colleagues from DAAD, university staff for such an event. Days of the German language and culture raise the expectations that the collaboration with other foreign universities will continue.
T. Gordeenok shared her impressions about the event: «Now we combine entertaining and educational parts. DAAD lecturers come to us and hold very interesting seminars for students who study German in Belorusian universities. Polotsk is a place of meeting for many students. They have a chance to exchange their experience, share their opinions about the whole educational process. The main aim of such seminars is to make the process of studying more interesting and attractive.
We know that the collaboration with DAAD lecturers attracts many students, thus we try to make German more popular, because nowadays people are mostly interested in English. We are for the multiculture and for more foreign languages in Belarusian education».
