Numerous guests gathered in the university Center of Creativity, foreign students from Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Africa. The rector of the university Yurij Romanovskij and the head of the International Office Olga Zhuravskaya attended the international New Year's Eve party.

The organizers of the event invited the guests to immerse in the atmosphere of the Belarusian New Year, to participate in the modern traditions of its preparation and celebration. Representatives of different countries learned that in Belarusian families the main symbol of the holiday is a decorated Christmas tree, a traditional treat on the tables of Belarusians is Olivier salad, and two more symbolss are tangerines and champagne. Also, in every house people make wishes at the stroke of the clock at midnight, and, of course, everyone (both adults and children) is waiting Santa Claus with New Year's gifts!

The interactive programme of the evening assumed the participation of guests in all festive traditions. Therefore, students and their tutors headed by the rector of the university decorated Christmas trees, prepared Olivier salad for watching famous New Year's movies.

At the festive buffet, the participants were reminded of another New Year's tradition, which is very popular in Belarus. The chiming clock, a symbolic glass of 'champagne' and the rector's festive wish set the tone for the dance and game programme. The guests took part in contests, sang karaoke, and danced.

And, of course, no traditional New Year's holiday in Belarus is complete without Ded Moroz (Santa Claus) and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) with a bag of gifts. This evening was no exception. Having participated in a joint poem-wish, each guest received a memorable souvenir, a symbol of the coming year.
At the end of the dance-game programme, students were waiting for another surprise gift from the rector of the university, a whole bag of sweets!
New Year's chocolate from the university administration perfectly complemented the tea party with national Uzbek sweets. At a friendly table students from different countries recalled and shared their national traditions of a wonderful winter holiday.

The festive evening ended in a snow-covered courtyard, where the guests lighted mini-fireworks and sparklers, and once again made wishes for the coming year to be happy!

And one more important thing, we did not have any difficulties in communicating with the guys'.
