The 5th of June is the Memory Day of Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk. This is a joyful holiday for many orthodox believers. This year it has a special meaning because the saint relics were returned to our native land 105 years ago. The students and lecturers of Polotsk State University took part in the events dedicated to this day.
On June, 4, the workshop “The genius of Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk” took place at the conference hall of Polotsk Collegium. The meeting was arranged by the cultural and leisure-time sector of Polotsk State University.
Galina Myslivets, a lecture of the department of history and tourism, had a presentation which was connected with the research of Saint Euphrosyne’s cult.
Tamara Dzhumantayeva, the director of Polotsk National historical and cultural museum-reserve noted the contribution that Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk made to the history and culture of our town.
Tamara Alexandrovna also thanked the students who had taken part in archeological excavations on the territory of Saint Euphrosyne Monastery in May. They were lucky to find a unique artifact – a stamped seal which belonged to Saint Euphrosyne.
The students of the specialty “History” made an amazing “gift” to the Memory Day of Saint Euphrosyne.
Moreover, the students of the faculties of Information Technologies and History and Philology took part in a quiz where they checked their knowledge about Euphrosyne’s life.
In the context of workshop the awarding of participants in the essay competition „Euphrosyne of Polotsk: the image through centuries“ also took place at the conference hall.
On June, 5, the students and lecturers of Polotsk faculties were the first who met the Religious procession.
