On July 8, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, arrived in Belarus for an official two-day visit. During the visit, the presidents of Belarus and Uzbekistan will discuss how to build their cooperation and strengthen ties between the two countries. After the meeting, they plan to sign about 20 documents. The most important one is the Declaration on establishing a strategic partnership between Belarus and Uzbekistan.
In today's world, closer cooperation between countries is not just a political trend, but a main driver of progress. It creates a strong base for countries to support each other and achieve steady growth in all areas of life. Working together allows countries to combine their resources, knowledge, and skills to solve very hard problems that no single country can handle alone. This turns global challenges into shared opportunities for growth.
Higher education is no exception, as working with other countries opens up many new opportunities. This teamwork has many benefits. Joint research projects and student exchanges speed up scientific and technological progress by sharing special labs and bringing together top experts. They also help create a diverse and multicultural environment for students.
Following the latest trends in higher education, Euphrosyne Polotskaya State University of Polotsk is working to build a strong network of global partnerships. This helps everyone benefit from offering educational programmes to international students and working on joint projects together.
For Polotsk University, universities in Uzbekistan are active and promising partners in creating new educational programmes. Since 2019, Polotsk University and Tashkent State University of Economics have run a joint faculty that offers shared bachelor's and master's degree programmes in economics. Since it started, the faculty has graduated hundreds of specialists, and their diplomas are recognized in both Uzbekistan and Belarus. On July 8, an official diploma ceremony for the 2026 graduates was held at the university in Tashkent. The event was attended by Yury Ramanouski, Rector of Polotsk University, and Elena Maley, the coordinator of the joint faculty.
In July, a delegation from the Bukhara Engineering and Technology Institute visited Polotsk University. The goal of the trip was to find new ways to improve international cooperation in technology and innovation, and to make engineering education even better. The guests toured the university's facilities and equipment, visited labs, and watched classes in their fields of interest. They also learned about the history of Polotsk University, which is closely connected to the history of the region.
During the visit, Professor Sadriddin Fozilov and Associate Professor Temirov Alisher Khashim Ugli from the Department of Chemical Gas Processing at Bukhara University took part in a strategy meeting with the leaders of Polotsk University. They also attended the diploma awarding ceremony for the 2026 graduates.
Sadriddin Fozilov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor at Bukhara State Technical University:
"We are working with Polotsk University to develop the fuel industry. Our universities have several joint study programs in the 2+2 and 1+3 formats for engineering, and they have shown great results. In the future, we plan to work even more closely with the university to train PhD students.
The region is home to one of the largest oil refineries, Naftan. In our labs, we are working together to create special oil additives, and we want to test them in real-world conditions. This will take a few months, and it is very important work for us.
Overall, Belarus and Polotsk University have left a wonderful impression on us. It is a pleasure to work with your staff, from the university leaders all the way down to the lab assistants".
Today, the partnership between Polotsk University and universities in Uzbekistan is bringing great results. This is clear from the hundreds of graduates who studied in special programs for key areas of the economy, as well as the unique joint projects we have built together. Polotsk University will keep working to create a strong international study environment. This will help improve education, grow the economy, and bring our partner countries closer together through culture.
