In March of 2019 the Joint Faculty of Polotsk State University and Technological University of Tajikistan was created for training skilled personnel in the sphere of engineering and technologies (Joint PSU – TUT Faculty). Students are offered to specialize in two study programmes “Equipment for the Chemical Industry and Enterprises of Construction Materials” and “Design, Construction and Maintenance of Gas and Oil Pipelines and Storages”.
On December 23, PSU hosted the delegation from Technological University of Tajikistan represented by:
- Rector Amonzoda Ilhom Temur,
- Vice-Rector for international cooperation Boboev Khayol Boboevich,
- Dean of the joint PSU-TUT faculty Khuboni Sorbon.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss the issues of training students at the joint faculty and ways for further cooperation.
Rector Dmitry Lazovsky, First Vice-Rector Svetlana Vegera, Vice-Rector for Science Yury Goilubev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Nadezhda Boreyko, Deans of the faculties and Heads of the departments of PSU attended the meeting with the representatives of Technological University of Tajikistan. During the meeting, they discussed the following issues: the extension of cooperation, the increase in the number of study programmes at the joint PSU-TUT faculty, IT-sphere and construction, student/staff mobility, future perspectives and joint project development.
The guests from Tajikistan had an opportunity to visit the university campuses in Polotsk and Mezhdurechye, to see material and technical equipment in Novopolotsk campuses, to assess the conditions and opportunities for training specialists in areas that are in demand in Tajikistan.
The experience of bilateral cooperation in the field of education is useful for both universities. Research interchange and strengthening international relations are the main purposes of cooperation between TUT and PSU. Following the meeting, new steps in developing further interaction were outlined. The representatives of two universities signed a cooperation agreement.
