Under the initiative of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Császár Mátyás visited Polotsk State University on May 8-11, 2018. Dr. Császár Mátyás is an academician from the Department of International Private Law, Faculty of Political Science, the University of Szeged (Hungary). Also being a lawyer, he specializes in the international private law and European Union law.

Instantly, Dr. Császár Mátyás familiarized with the Belarusian historic destinations. The sightseeing tour was organized by PSU International Office. Our guest paid a visit to one of the most wonderful places in Belarus – National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve «Niasvizh». The Doctor was purely astonished by rich historic traditions maintaining in our country.

However, Császár Mátyás `s trip continued at Polotsk State University. The Hungarian researcher participated in a full range of events. Thereafter, X Junior Research Conference «European and National Dimension in Research». Here, Dr. Császár Mátyás presented his own university as well charged with great history and traditions. The University of Szeged`s founding referred to 1581. The University places in the sunny Hungarian city – Szeged. According to QS World University ranking of 2017, the University of Szeged was declared to top the list. Many famous academicians have been working here including Albert Szent-Györgyi (1937). Indeed, this is a place for phenomenal achievements, wreathing 700 research areas for postgraduate study and 50 programs for foreign students. Currently it includes 21000 students meanwhile comprising those from other countries.

As the conference ended, the entertainment program was set which provided visit to Museum of the Belarusian Book-printing and the Savior, St. Euphrosyne Convent, Polotsk College and city sightseeing tour.

Equal rich program awaited for our guest in the academic building, in Mezhdurechye. After the sights tour finished, Dr. Császár Mátyás noted the Faculty of Law has up-to-date educational environment and students are equipped with all needed for successful study. A unique impression left PSU Courtroom.

Later on, both the student and the faculty staff were invited to the lecture led in English and headed as «International Private Law: Reforms in Hungary».

The lecturer arose to be useful experience not only for students but university lecturers. The high level of proficiency, ability to keep in touch with the audience and to explain complex legal concepts in layman`s terms were observed.

Having finalized the lecture, Császár Mátyás addressed to the students with memorial speech. He wished to think up as far as possible about one`s language skills improvement. The modern world dictates not only new standards in recruitment but opens the whole world full of opportunities.

Lecture on private international law

As for the University of Szeged, it holds a 30-year tradition of international education programs in various languages. The scholarships for foreign students, for instance as «The Stipendium Hungarian Scholarship Program», permit to visit the university. «The Stipendium Hungarian Scholarship Program» was issued by the Hungarian government in 2013. The program is based on bilateral cooperation agreements signed by Secretaries for Education. Nowadays, there are more than 50 countries-participants including the Republic of Belarus. Students may make an application wishing to attend undergraduate and postgraduate study programs. Besides for free education, the program covers monthly scholarship, health insurance and accommodation benefit for students.

According to the mentioned agreement, it became possible to provide student and lecturer exchange meanwhile holding research programs. As for signing the Memorandum between the University of Szeged and Polotsk State University this appeared to be the first step on the way to successful collaboration.

Both universities seek for efficient cooperation where it will be possible to start new programs following contemporary directions. It is a great chance for our students to develop one`s mobility because they gain international practices which are useful for their career. It promotes cooperation between Hungary and Belarus.
