On November 11-12, 2016 the International research conference «New communication technologies and modern Belarusian society» took place at Polotsk State University. The Department of Social Studies and Humanities of PSU together with the Department of Social Communication of Belarusian State University organized of the conference.
During the past few years new communication technologies became the reason of multiply changes in daily life of modern society. Due to the development and active implementation of the Internet in different spheres of life the world community functions within global communicative area where communication covers all spheres of social reality. Belarus is traditionally a place for IT-outsourcing and global start-ups (World of Tanks, Viber, MSQRD).
The conference was opened by the pro-rector of Education, professor, Doctor of Historic Sciences Denis V. Duk who warmly greeted all the guests and participants of the conference and also expressed his hope for a regular organization of such conferences concentrated on the new programme «Social communication». The pro-rector pointed out that such events can be a place for the discussion of important questions connected with the development of educational process, common strategies and ways of further cooperation.
The Head of the Department of Social Studies and Humanities of Polotsk State University, a candidate of Philosophical Sciences, an associate professor Igor A. Bortnik expressed his thankfulness to the university administration, all the departments, colleagues and students for the organization of the conference and wished to listen to important and useful reports for modern science and also take part in a productive and interesting discussion.
The plenary session gathered the participants from Ukraine (representatives from V.N. Karazin Kharkiv Natonal University) and Belarus (representatives from Belarusian State University and Polotsk State University).
The conference programme was organized in sections:
1. Internet-media as a challenge for traditional journalism rules.
2. Business and commercial of new digital epoch.
3. Virtual measurement of political area.
4. Social networks and digital communities.
5. New communication technologies in education.
