Students of the Information Technologies Faculty of Polotsk State University took part in the ninth Olympiad in Informatics among students of educational institutions of high education. It was held from 29 to 30 March, 2012, in Smolensk (Russia) on the basis of the Federal State Budget Institution of High Professional Education “Smolensk State University”.
The organizers of the Olympiad were the Department of the Smolensk region of information technology, communications, and the Department of the Smolensk region of Education and Science.
94 students from 14 universities of the Smolensk region and five universities of the Republic of Belarus took part in the competition.
The Olympiad was held in two categories: “Programming” and “Office and applied programs”. The results were summed both in the individual and in the team competition.
Lecturers of the Software Engineering Department Sergey Chebotarev and Irina Burachenok trained our students.
Due to common efforts of the team PSU took 2nd place in prestigious category “Programming”.
Student of the 3rd Academic year Eugene Zhidetsky demonstrated excellent knowledge. In the individual tournament he won 2nd place in category “Programming”, 4th place in category “Office and applied programs” and 3rd place in the Absolute Superiority. Student of the 2nd Academic year Oleg Lishaev took 3rd place in category “Programming”.
Awarding of the winners of the Olympiad in Informatics was held on March 30, 2012, in the Great Hall of the Smolensk region Administration.
