On May 16-17, 2014, at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno there was held the III Republican students and pupils Olympiad on cryptography and information security Junior.Crypt.2014 supported by CJSC “Avesta”, a leading manufacturer of systems for cryptographic security of data, High-Tech Park of Belarus and Cisco representative office in Republic of Belarus.
Students of the Faculty of Information Technology represented Polotsk State University.
Competitions to protect information were held in two rounds – theoretical and practical ones. Knowledge of computer networks, operating systems Linux, Windows, the features of web-servers were required for answers to theoretical questions and solutions to practical tasks. Five practical problems relied on Cisco Academy curriculum materials and involved the use of Pocket Tracer packet.
In competition on information security our students showed excellent results. The first place was shared between the 2nd academic year students of specialty “Software support of information technologies” Maxim Balabash and Artem Shmanovsky. The second place went to the fifth academic year student of “Computer Security” Alexey Ramashka. The 3rd academic year student of “Computer Security” Konstantin Golovan won the 3rd prize.
In competitions on cryptography participants should solve 10 problems of varying complexity. Tatiana Makhanek (the 4th academic year student, specialty “Computer Security”), Konstantin Golovan (the 3th academic year student, specialty “Computer Security”) were awarded diplomas for great achievements.
