Speech

What are the results of today’s meeting?

– The Chairperson of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus has learnt how the Juridical Centre works, how the cooperation with the Pretrial Investigation Agency develops and what results we have now.

The cooperation between the Faculty of Law and the Pretrial Investigation Agency moved to a new level after opening of the Juridical Centre. We are in contact with both the Department of Vitebsk Regional Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus and Novopolotsk City and Polotsk interdistrict Departments of the Investigative Committee. The personnel is willing to continue the cooperation with the Faculty of Law in the areas connected with the educational process and implementation of practice-oriented methods of teaching: they give lectures and seminars, work with students who are doing their practical training, they participate in final state examinations, listen to the graduation papers presentations. Every year, the Faculty of Law hosts scientific and practical conferences, workshops and seminars where the crime investigators inform students about their work in detail, about the requirements for a specialist; they point out the problems and give advice on improvement of students training.

The new ideas and directions of cooperation development were discussed during the visit. I hope we will manage to implement them together with the Investigative Committee. This includes the professional orientation work with the schoolchildren. Such work is necessary to find young people who see themselves crime investigators in future and to help them in preparation for this job. Besides, we discussed the questions of further implementation of a practice-oriented approach and new interesting forms of experts engagement into the educational process and students’ skill practice on the basis of both the Faculty of Law and the Departments of the Investigative Committee.

The Visit

We are glad that the Faculty of Law cooperates with the Investigative Committee, because mutual understanding and focus on results are the factors that allow us to develop successfully this cooperation.
