On March, 23-27 the final stage of the Republican competition in History and Social science was held in Belarus. According to the information of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus the programme included 17 subjects. The final stage took place in Polotsk.
On March, 25, seventy-five pupils demonstrated their knowledge of history at PSU. Among them there were boys and girls from different Belarusian cities and villages.
Apart from the competition the participants had a tour around historical buildings of Polotsk State University which are included in the list of historical and cultural values of Belarus.
The Dean of the faculty of History and Philology Natalia Lysova and Vladimir Cherevko, a senior teacher of History and Tourism Department, met all the teachers and members of the jury near the university. The guests liked the sculpture «Polotsk Student».


The tour was continued in the courtyard where the guests were shown the restored well, beautiful pictures and University clocks.


The pupils were interested in students’ timetable and subjects they study.

The guests also visited a reading hall of university library, a conference hall and a hall of history where pupils could get to know more about the history of Polotsk.

The final step of the programme was the meeting with the Dean of the faculty Natalia Lysova who told the future school-leavers about opportunities of studying at PSU and peculiarities of the faculty of history and philology. First-year and fourth-year students shared their impressions about studying at Polotsk State University and showed a short film about student life of the faculty of history and philology.

One of the guests, Sergey Zhuk from Brest shared his impressions about visiting Polotsk State University: «Maybe Polotsk State University is not only the centre of education but also a huge cultural centre. I think, those students who study here are very lucky»
