On December 20-22, 2017 the delegation of Polotsk State University visited Lingnan Normal University (Zhanjian, China) which is one the most developing regional HEIs of Southern China. Lingnan Normal University is a mini-town with a convenient infrastructure. Near the university campuses, the library and student dormitories there are houses for the academic staff, two schools, a kindergarten, a bank, a hospital, supermarkets and sports grounds. Every two years a new object appears at the university – a new campus, a concert hall or a modern lab.

During the official meeting with the administration of Lingnan Normal University the vice-rector for academic work at Polotsk State University Y. Golubev underlined: «The past of our universities is similar in many ways. The history of Lingnan Normal University dates back to the Leiyang Academy founded in 1636. The history of Polotsk State University begins in 1581 with the opening of the Jesuit College and also has rich traditions. At the current stage our campuses have become universities which provide high quality education and which are opened for the international interaction in the fields of education, science and culture». The vice president of Lingnan Normal University Lan Yanze told about the relevant tendencies of the university development – study programmes, international cooperation, special projects, material and technical equipment. She pointed out that Lingnan Normal University is interested in the cooperation with Polotsk State University and ready to make a contribution to the development of Belarus-China relations and the implementation of the New Silk Road Initiative.

The representatives of Polotsk State University got acquaint chemical and physical labs, had working meetings with the administration of several faculties, watched a wushu-performance and took part in a tea ceremony. During the visit the Memorandum of Understanding has been signed, and also the Cooperation Agreement in different fields of activity for our universities has been reached.
