On September 26, university administration, deans, key teachers and active students of Polotsk State University and also representatives of Novopolotsk administration had a meeting with the graduate of PSU, in the immediate past Novopolotsk mayor, and now the deputy prime minister of the Republic of Belarus Natalia I. Kochanova.
Natalia Ivanovna warmly greeted all the guests and thanked for the invitation to her native university.
The main topic of the presentation was devoted to the principal tendencies of the development of social sphere of the Republic of Belarus. In her speech Natalia Kochanova paid attention to the personnel training problem. The deputy prime minister pointed out that there must be a clear idea of specialists our economy needs for the successful development of our country.
Natalia Kochanova also told about some changes in methods of teaching and revision of textbooks; touched upon an urgent problem of scientific manpower development and paid attention to some social programs in our country. The best proofs of their effectiveness are top places of the Republic of Belarus in different international rankings.
At the end of the speech the deputy prime minister reminded all the guests about one of the most important events – the Election of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
The meeting with Natalia I. Kochanova was continued by teachers and students of Polotsk State University who had a unique possibility to ask questions and get competent answers from the deputy prime minister of the Republic of Belarus.
The deputy prime minister’s meeting with administration, teachers and students of PSU coincided with a very important event – Natalia Kochanova’s birthday. The rector of PSU Dmitry Lazovsky warmly congratulated Natalia Ivanovna and wished her all the best.
In conclusion Natalia Ivanovna shared her opinion about the current condition of her native university. «I think Polotsk State University is really a university of European level! The material base is magnificent! The most important thing is the entering campaign». We see that school-leavers enter Polotsk State University and then, they become specialists in demand. For me this university is splendid. It is very important and token. PSU is a self-sufficient establishment of higher education that works very successfully».
