On September 2, 2013, PSU opened the door for new members of student society – 2174 freshmen came to the University. They received their students’ IDs and met with Deans, Vice-deans at the Faculties, Heads of Departments.
Then heroes of the day went to holiday concerts, where they received a symbolic key of knowledge from the Rector’s hands and gave a solemn oath.
On that day 2 welcoming concerts were held – in Polotsk Collegium and in the new building. In the concert hall of Polotsk Collegium there was concert for students of the History and Philology Faculty and the Faculty of Information Technologies. Kristina Kislova, Maria Medvedeva, Levon Gziryan, Natalia Kurilovich performed in the concert. Anna Sedlovets and Oleg Efremenko were good at rhythmic dancing. Yaroslav Volkov presented to viewers a fascinating saxophone solo. Charming participants of beauty studio “Mara” showed to the audience Olga Tikhonova’s author clothes collection. Students’ Trade Union played the sweet prize in the lottery.
The second concert was held in the assembly hall of new building. As traditionally, the concert was started with the Rector’s congratulations, handover of the key of knowledge and the solemn oath. Then the concert went on as usual. Levon Gziryan, Nikolay Kamenkov and Yulia Makarenko presented to the audience lyric songs. Dances from pop dance studio “Zhemchuzhina” and modern dance studio «TORYDANCE», performance of singing studio “Nastroenie” were lovely. Radio Engineering Faculty students, collective “Flash Dance” with its LED show and an artist of the original genre Anna Tsitovich (hula-hoop) pleasantly surprised the audience. The KVN teams congratulated the new comers and the staff.
Overall, the Day of Knowledge was a success in Polotsk State University. We wish freshmen stay positive during all the years of studying, to achieve a great success in science, art, sports, social life.
