On May, 20, the solemn ceremony of the presentation with a special prize «Origin of Knowledge» in the field of science, education, sport, creativity and social work and the festive concert, dedicated to the University Day took place at the assembly hall of Polotsk State University.
The special prize «Origin of Knowledge» has 10 nominations. It is awarded according to the decision of Internet-voting and the Comission.
The long-expected event started at the university lobby. On the way to the assembly hall charming hosts of the opening stage of the ceremony, Yuliya Sivitskaya (the winner “Student of the year - 2014”) and Nikolay Rozum (the nominee “Student of the Year - 2015”), met all the nominees on the traditional red carpet.
After heavy applause the opening of the solemn ceremony started at the assembly hall. The hosts of the event, Ekaterina Borodavko and Konstantin Gaydayenko, invited the rector of PSU, Dmitry Lazovsky to the stage. Dmitry Nikolaevich greeted all guests and congratulated on university’s birthday.
The most honorable nomination “Honour and Glory of the University” opened the solemn ceremony. This nomination is traditionally dedicated to people who have made a significant contribution in the development of PSU. This year Dmitry Lazovsky presented the special prize to Vladimir Zheleznyak, a doctor of technical science, a professor, the head of the department of radio electronics.
Vladimir Zheleznyak is well-known as an outstanding scientist and engineer, a talented educator, the author of numerous researches, inventions. He’s opened a scientific school in the field of theory and practice of information security. His course of life is a role model of the selfless service to Science and Homeland.
After the prolonged applause sweet, charming and talented people from the folk dance studio opened the festive concert.
The next nomination of the ceremony was “Leader of the Year”. The first pro-rector of the university Svetlana Vegera announced the winner.
This year the nominees were: Igor Bortnik, the head of the department of social studies and humanities; Vladimir Zavistovsky, the head of the department of applied mechanics and graphics; Vitaly Zalessky, the head of the department of physics.
The winner of the nomination “Leader of the Year” became Vitaly Zalessky. Being on the stage he thanked the audience for the recognition and said warm words about his team.
The performance of the graduate of the faculty of Physical Training and Education, Maksim Yevsyukov was an extra gift for Vitaly Zalessky and a nice surprise for the audience.
The nomination “Teacher of the Year” was represented by the following nominees: Svetlana Voyevodina, a senior teacher of the department of technology and methods of teaching; Inga Zenkova, a candidate of economic science, the head of the department of economics, management and economic theory; Denis Kondakov, a candidate of philological science of the department of world literature and foreign languages.
The pro-rector responsible for educational work, Denis Duk had a right to open the envelope and announce the winner. Denis Vladimirovich pointed out: “To be the teacher of the year means to be the best teacher always!”
The winner became Inga Zenkova who thanked all the guests for the high appreciation of her work.
The performance of the winners of republican and international competitions, Anna Sedlovets and Oleg Yephremenko presented a very touching and emotional dance.
The nomination “Young Researcher of the Year” had the following nominees: Egor Lazovsky, a candidate of technical science, a vice-dean of the faculty of Civil Engineering, Igor Magalinsky, a candidate of historic science, the dean of the faculty for Foreign Students; Vladimir Ovseychik, a candidate of historic science, the head of the department of architecture.
The doctor of economic science, the head of the department of finance, Valentina Bogatyreva announced the name of the best young researcher of the year.
Igor Magalinsky became the winner of the special prize.
The performance of the laureate of numerous republic and international festivals, a senior teacher of the department of economics, management and economic theory, Olga Sholokh was a musical gift for the winner.
The nomination “Specialist of the Year” was represented by the following nominees: Mariya Kozik, Tamara Skorokhodova and Tamara Khalipskaya.
Vladimir Strizhak, the pro-rector responsible for maintenance, announced the winner. The special prize got Mariya Kozik.
The variety dance studio presented a wonderful Belarusian dance for the winner.
The nomination “Student of the Year” was represented by: Olga Lubochko, a student of the faculty of Geodesy; Nikolay Rozum, a student of the faculty of Engineering Technology; Olga Chebotar, a student of the faculty of Law.
The pro-rector responsible for research work, Dmitry Glukhov had a right to open the envelope and announce the winner.
Nikolay Rozum became the winner of the special prize.
Anna Tsitovich, a student of the faculty of Radio Engineering, presented a circus performance as a gift for talented Nikolay.
The next nomination “Best Student Group of the Year” was represented by the groups of the faculties of Radio Engineering, Physical Training and Education, Law.
The winner, the group of the faculty of Radio Engineering, was announced by the head of the department of educational work Galina Polyakova.
The dance performance presented by the winners of international festivals, the studio „TORYDANCE“, could help the audience to make a quick world tour.
The right to announce the winner of the nomination „Sportsman of the Year“ was given to Vyacheslav Durnov, a merited master of sports of the Republic of Belarus.
The nomination „Sportsman of the Year“ was represented by Alexander Kosnikovsky, a fourth-year student of the faculty of Machine building and Automobiles; Sergey Lesyak, a third-year student of the faculty of Physical Training and Education; Ilya Lobkovich, a fourth-year student of the faculty of Finance and Economics.
Ilya Lobkovich became the winner and got the special prize.
The performance “Sport Mix” presented by the charming participants of the university contest “The Spring Queen - 2015” was a deserving reward for the winner.
The students of Polotsk State University are talented not only at study and sport, but also at art. They always have an opportunity to demonstrate and improve their abilities.
The nomination “Talent of the Year” was represented by: Nikolay Kamenkov, a participant of the solo singing studio, a student of the faculty of Geodesy; Sergey Tanashchyuk, a participant of the “Image” studio, a student of the faculty of Civil Engineering; Anna Tsitovich, a student of the faculty of Radio Electronics, performing in the genre of circus art.
The right to announce the winner was given to the doctor of technical science, the professor, Ernst Babenko.
Nikolay Kamenkov, a laureate of republican and international contests and festivals, became the winner of the nomination and got the special prize.
Then, Nikolay had an opportunity to demonstrate his mastery during the next musical performance. Accompanied by “TORYDANCE” studio, the winner of the nomination presented the cover-version of the hit “Supremacy”.
The last nomination „Event of the Year“ was presented by the following nominees: the academic musical evening “Intermezzo” at Polotsk Collegium, the opening of “UNIVERik”, a centre of preschool childhood and innovation developmental techniques; a festival of sport and creativity “Winter holidays” of the university staff of Polotsk State University.
Vladimir Lipsky, the head of the department of pipeline transport, water supply and hydraulics, announced the winner – Sergey Zavistovsky, the head of the centre of preschool childhood and innovation developmental techniques “UNIVERik”.
The participants of the concert gathered on the stage and performed a final song “Our favourite university”.
