On April, 16 the delegation of Smiltene Municipality of the Republic of Latvia visited Polotsk State University.
Smiltene Municipality is a small administrative-territorial unit which is situated in the historical region Vidzeme, The collaboration between Novopolotsk and Smiltene began in 2014 when the administration of Smiltene Municipality sent a collaboration proposal to Novopolotsk administration. Last spring the delegation from Novopolotsk visited Smiltene twice, and this current visit of Latvian guests is a proof of a successful continuation of bilateral collaboration.
One of the most important things for the delegation was visiting PSU.
Our guests shared their impressions about visiting Polotsk State University.
Dagniya Latse-Ate, the consul of the Republic of Latvia in Vitebsk: «Today I’m accompanying the delegation of Smiltene Municipality in Novopolotsk. We hope that friendly and mutually beneficial relations will develop between Novopolotsk and Smiltene. During the meeting with the administration of Novopolotsk we’ve discussed some offers of collaboration in the sphere of sport and culture, food industry».
Right now we are visiting the educational establishments to find new points of contact. The delegation of Smiltene considers a possible collaboration in this field. It’s very important that it’s possible to get a speciality, that are rare not only for Belarus but for neighbor countries as well. It’s obvious that students can successfully study their main specialities but also take extra courses».
Gints Kukaynism, the head of Smiltene self-government: «I’m glad to see how modern technologies and technical devices are used at Polotsk State University. It will be useful for our educational establishments to use your experience in this field. We also see good opportunities of collaboration in sport sphere».
The delegation of Smiltene Municipality had an excursion around Polotsk, including the historical buildings of Polotsk Collegium.
