During European Mobility Week the friendly team of Polotsk State University took part in a traditional cycle race on the eve of World Car Free Day which is annually celebrated on September, 22. The event was organized by Novopolotsk administration in cooperation with our university.

The tradition to hold the Car Free Day began in England in 1997. Nowadays more than 35 countries have joined such an event.

This activity has been carried out in Novopolotsk since 2008. During the day the ideas of cycling pedestrian kinds of movements, the use of public transport are actively promoted.

On September, 21, at the main square all the comers had a chance to participate in the cycle race.

The solemn event started with Alexander Golubenok’s welcoming speech, one of the representatives of Novopolotsk administration, who wished all the guests of the cycle race to enjoy the participation in such an event.
