In November 2019, Head of the Department of Civil Law Vladimir Bogonenko visited the University of Strasbourg (France) under the international project MOST (Mobility Scheme for Targeted People-to-People-Contacts) funded by the European Union.

V. Bogonenko: “The University of Strasbourg is one of the oldest European universities with a rich history. It contains buildings of different architectural styles, where students can study and rest.

The research is carried out in specialized research centres, and the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) is one of them.

The university has the Faculty of Law, Political Sciences and Management. The studies are carried out mostly in so-called amphitheaters (amphithéâtre). The interior design of the premises attracts one’s attention. The terms for inclusive education are provided. The majority of the students at the Faculty are women.

I had a couple of tasks. The first one was to present PSU and the Faculty of Law in particular.

The second was to learn more about the Bologna process in higher education, advantages of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), French educational process management experience, modern methods and technologies of teaching juridical disciplines, and also Civil and Intellectual Property Law of France.

The third task was to establish scientific and educational cooperation with the University of Strasbourg, to develop the plan of common collaboration events, and to discuss a partnership agreement between PSU and the University of Strasbourg.

During the visit, the questions concerning teaching, research and participation in international projects such as ERASMUS were discussed.

The host university provided the best working conditions in the library, containing a huge amount of juridical literature, including such important areas for our Department as civil law and intellectual property. The exchange of scientific literature took place as well.

I’d like to add that Strasbourg is an old and very beautiful city, where the two cultures (French and German) live there in harmony. The city is considered the parliamentary capital of Europe, as sessions of European Parliament take place here and the main EU structures and the European Court of Human Rights are situated in Strasbourg.

It’s going to be a fruitful work for us in the wide field of directions of international collaboration between PSU and Strasbourg University”.
