In March 2017 during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Turkmenistan a number of treaties and memoranda were concluded between Belarusian and Turkmen educational establishments. Particularly the Memorandum about cooperation between Polotsk State University and International Oil and Gas University was signed. According to it the universities intend to collaborate in the field of modern study programmes development, conducting scientific researches, exchange of research and pedagogic staff and students aimed at the promotion of education and culture.
The active interaction between universities began in 2015. The delegation of Polotsk State University headed by the first pro-rector Svetlana Vegera visited International Oil and Gas University within their visit to Turkmenistan. During the meeting the cooperation perspectives were discussed.
International University of Oil and Gas represents the main educational establishment of oil and gas community of Turkmenistan. There are more than twenty study programmes: geology, exploring and development of mineral resources, chemical technologies, computer technologies, construction and architecture, technological machines and equipment, power engineering, economics and management.
