On November 28, 2018, the Department of Social Studies and Humanities at Polotsk State University held a master-class “Fundraising and Designing in the Modern World: How to Search and Write Effectively” provided by Jonathan Clingman and Rinata Freydinzon.
Jonathan, development coordinator of British-Belarusian charity organization “The Together Plan”, an Oxford University graduate, informed the students about “fundraising” and the existing funds for financial support of social and scientific projects. Besides, he gave some practical guidelines on filling in the forms to receive grants.
Rinata Freydinzon, director of the Private Jewish Cultural and Educational Institution “Finchley”, programs coordinator for Jewish youth, spoke about writing a project to receive a grant. Besides, she told the students about volunteer movement organization issues and shared her experience in charity projects organization.
A large number of questions to the speakers proved the topic relevance. The students were interested in the details of searching funds and filling in the forms to get grants, writing letters to the sponsors and searching for volunteers for social projects. It should be noted that the master-class arose great interest not only among the students specializing in Social Communication.
Alina Filipson, a student: “It is better to learn new things from the people who have experience in them. Everyone who has visited the master-class is extremely lucky because Jonathan and Rinata are very experienced! The material is very clear and simple. The speakers have given us a lot of examples from their lives. Our students have learnt how to create a project that will be interesting to the sponsors, how and where to find financial support, volunteers, useful websites… I would like to thank the Department of Social Studies and Humanities for organizing such a wonderful master-class!”
The Department of Social Studies and Humanities expresses gratitude to Jonathan Clingman and Rinata Freydinzon for the informative event. Besides, the Department would like to thank all the students for the participation.
