On December 26, 2018, a grand New Year ball “New Year Stories” for the university lecturers and staff took place at the concert hall of Polotsk State University.
Lots of surprises, interesting twists, competitions and music together with beautiful decorations made the evening unforgettable.
Polotsk State University Rector Dmitry Lazovsky in his congratulatory speech reminded everybody about our higher educational establishment historical status and about future tasks of development as an innovative and international university. In this festive evening Dmitry Lazovsky commended Jocelyn Pihlaja, a Fulbright scholar, an American lecturer of the English Language and Literature at Lake Superior College (Duluth, Montana), for the great job done in the sphere of the English language study popularization among the university students and staff. She was awarded a PSU badge “For the Patriotic Education of Youth”.
Later, the guests were invited to listen to the musical program “New Year Stories at Tatsiana Starchenko’s Musical Room” performed by the musicians from Belarusian State Philharmonic. The hall was filled with the melodies from our favorite movies. Familiar melodies were brilliantly performed by a Grand Opera and Ballet Theater soloist Natalia Akinina, a flutist Yevgeny Vidanov, a cellist Stanislav Petchenko, an accordionist Denis Cherny and a pianist Tatsiana Starchenko. The sound was magical because of the live performance and special acoustic of the hall.
After the concert, the guests were invited to the concert hall lobby.
The evening ended in the College court-yard. This winter night was colored with plenty of lights that decorated this memorable holiday.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
