On January 26-28, 2018 the team of the Faculty of Law at Polotsk State University took part in the prestigious international law competition – Belarusian National Rounds in Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Minsk.
Philip C. Jessup Competition is an international competition in the form of a fictional dispute between clients (countries) before the International Court of Justice. Students-lawyers present oral and written pleadings arguing both the applicant and respondent positions of the case.
This year the Administrator of Belarusian National Rounds of International Law and Arbitration Association (BILA) gathered 15 teams that represented leading Minsk and all regional HEIs of the country. The rounds were judged by 60 judges from 15 countries, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Georgia, Ukraine, Estonia and Russia, Poland and others.
The Faculty of Law at Polotsk State University have participated in the competition since 2017. Last year our team represented PSU for the first time and was awarded in the nomination «Debut of the year Award».
In 2018 during Belarusian National Rounds Polotsk State University was represented by the team of Law Faculty:
- Polina Kovalchuk;
- Donat Murashko;
- Vladislav Kiselev;
- Vyacheslav Kozhanov;
- Yana Sapego.
The students have prepared for several months under A. Nuzhdina’s supervision (Assistant at the Department of Theory and History of State and Law).
The team of the Faculty of Law at Belarusian State University took the 1st place in the competition. According the results, the team from Polotsk State University took the 7th place, being more successful than colleagues from Gomel branch of International University «MITSO», BIP-Institute of Law, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Baranovichi State University.
