On September 2, 2014, representatives of the friendship society “Polotsk – Friedrichshafen” existing for more than 20 years visited Polotsk. During that time a wide variety of projects was realized, including the project “Polotsk writes for Friedrichshafen”, which was an aim of the visit.
The program of events included a visit to the complex of the former Jesuit College. Familiarity with its history and its present appearance took place during the tour, first presented by members of the Sector of Cultural and Leisure Activities of Educational Work Department in German. By tradition, a medieval student who became a good talisman for modern Polotsk students met the guests.
Elements of ancient architecture of a building of the 18th century, a collection of unique artifacts, an exhibition “History of Polotsk Collegium in events and persons”, internal court yard had caused great interest of tourists. Modern equipment of the University made a great impression.
At the end of the visit delegations met with students and lecturers of History and Philology Faculty. During the meeting participants shared their impressions about the visit of Polotsk State University representatives in summer of 2014 in Friedrichshafen, as well as outlined the prospects for further cooperation.
