On May 25, 2018 III University Tourism Festival of Young Researchers was held on the territory of the scientific and educational base of PSU (Lake Chyornoe). The event became a part of the 50th Anniversary of PSU celebration.

7 teams, one team from each faculty, took part in the festival.

Teams

The event programme included 6 competitions:

  • Tourist Obstacle Course;
  • The Bakery Competition;
  • Laser tag;
  • “Introduce your team” Competition;
  • Wall Newspaper Competition;
  • Fishing Competition.

The festival was opened by the team captains who drew lots for the upcoming competitions.

At the grand opening of the III University Tourism Festival of Young Researchers Dmitry Glukhov, Vice-Rector for Science, PhD in Engineering, Associate Professor made a welcome speech. He noted the importance and necessity of such kind of events and wished all the participants the team morale and an excellent mood.

After that the participants greeted each other and introduced their teams demonstrating their fighting spirit.

The wonderful sunny weather encouraged each team to pass the obstacle course, which had been prepared by the staff of the Department of Physical Training and Sports. The competitions were both serious and funny. Among them there were the following: orienteering, a cobweb, a radial pendulum, throwing potatoes into the basket, bowling with boots, blindfold competitions and others.

According to the competition results in the tourist obstacle course the places are as follows:

  • 1st place – The Faculty of Finance and Economics;
  • 2nd place – The Faculty of Law;
  • 3rd place – The Faculty of Mechanics and Technology.

The next challenge was the Bakery Competition, in which the participants were required to cook dinner in the field conditions.

The cooking quality was the main criterion for assessments. The criterion included the degree of readiness of a dish, the taste, the number of ingredients, food presentation and the observance of basic sanitary standards in cooking.

This time young researchers astonished the judges by their fundamental and creative approach to the art of cookery.

In the bakery competition the places are as follows:

  • 1st place – The Faculty of Mechanics and Technology;
  • 2nd place – The Faculty of Information Technologies;
  • 3rd place – The Faculty of Civil Engineering.

In the afternoon Fishing Competition and Laser Tag started at the same time.

In the fishing competition the places are as follows:

  • 1st place – The Faculty of Civil Engineering;
  • 2nd place – The Faculty of Radio Engineering;
  • 3rd place – The Faculty of Information Technologies.

Laser Tag

Long laser tag (more than 3 hours!) gave the participants energy, adrenaline and the obsession with victory.

In this difficult long team struggle the places are as follows:

  • 1st place – The Faculty of Mechanics and Technology;
  • 2nd place – The Faculty of Information Technologies;
  • 3rd place – The Faculty of Law.

Before dinner the Wall Newspaper Competition was held. The main condition was to create a wall newspaper on the topic of “Tourism. Science. The Day of the University” at the venue of the festival and present their teams from a creative side. The participants sang, danced, showed miniatures, demonstrated their sense of humour and talent.

Following the results of the Wall Newspaper competition:

  • 1st place – The Faculty of Information Technologies;
  • 2nd place – The Faculty of Civil Engineering;
  • 3rd place – The Faculty of Finance and Economics.

  • 1st place – The Faculty of Information Technologies;
  • 2nd place – The Faculty of Humanities;
  • 3rd place – The Faculty of Law.

It was a wonderful completion of the competitive programme that left no one indifferent.

Following the final results once again the team of the Faculty of Information Technologies has won!

In conclusion, we want to express our gratitude to all the participants of the festival, as well as to its organizers – the rector, the members of Young Researchers Council, the department of Physical Training and Sports for the opportunity to meet with the friends and colleagues in an informal atmosphere, to communicate, to spend time in the open air, to get some positive feelings for the further productive work. It was fun and memorable!

We hope this tradition will become permanent in our university for many years.
