It is known that students are the most progressive and active people. An average student is cheerful, lively and outgoing. Therefore, it is not surprising that the International Students’ Day was celebrated joyously.
On November 15, Students’ Self-governance Day was held at PSU. The university administration transferred the reins of power to the students. It was beneficial for both the administration and the students. Thus, the students gained experience in managing a big team, and the administration had a possibility to have a look on the educational process in the university from the student’s point of view and bring fresh ideas.
Meanwhile, the freestyle “Students Rule” organized by PSU Trade Union Committee took place in Polotsk, Novopolotsk and Mezhdurechye.
The event in Mezhdurechye was one of the key events of the day. Marina Khramova, the Chairman of the Bureau’s Union at the Faculty of Law and a 3rd-year student Egor Gololobov, a student-dean of the Faculty of Law, greeted and congratulated the students. Maria Khramova, together with the initiative group of students, held a quiz on tales, competitions in speed eating sweet things, hiding cheat notes and inventing the reasons for being late.
All the winners received some prizes. The event ended with karaoke.
Meantime, the results of the online competition Stories/Instagram “I’m a PSU Student” were announced in the lobby of the main campus. They were as follows:
- 1st place – Student Information and Service Department;
- 2nd place – Viktoria Sysoy, Faculty of Civil Engineering;
- 3rd place – Student Video Studio “Konspekt”.
The winners received the certificates and presents from the Sushi Centre and entertainment club “Kentavr”.
Interactive and entertainment area “Happy Holiday, Student!” was an original and unusual part of the event. Everyone had the opportunity to take a selfie in the photo zone “I Love PSU” or try a role of a historical character provided by the Tourist Information Centre of PSU. The “Wishboard” organized by the student supervisory service provided the participants with positive emotions. The real highlight of the festive event was the master class in riding a hoverboard.
The performance of the Choral Studio “Inventa”, supervised by Irina Rubinchik, opened the festive concert “Debut-2018”, devoted to the International Students’ Day.
Further, Full Professor Dmitry Lazovsky, Rector of the university, PhD in Engineering, Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Belarus and Yaroslav Gorovoy, the student-rector, the chairman of the Student Council of the Faculty of Finance and Economics, laureate of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus, came up on the scene to congratulate the students and wish them all the best.
Dmitry Lazovsky awarded Maria Savchenko and Yaroslav Gorovoy, students of the Faculty of Finance and Economics, and Ashyr Jemirov, a student of the Faculty of Law, with certificates for academic achievements and active participation in the life of the university.
The studio of modern dancing “TORYDANCE” expressed their feelings in a dance.
The studio of jazz singing “Nastroyeniye” congratulated the students by singing a song.
Then, the time came for the best freshmen’s performances at the festival “Debut-2018” to please the audience. The first to take the floor were the students of the Faculty of Radio Engineering, the winners of the creative programme, with the video and the dance “Camouflage”.
A touching verse, presented by Sergey Voychenko, Alexander Korotkevich and Vladislav Telegin, the students of the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology, set the listeners thinking.
Dance group of the Faculty of Law “3D-ONE” showed excellent choreography.
The Turkmenistan students’ performance became the tradition of all concert programmes at the Faculty of Law. The creative festival “Debut-2018” wasn’t an exception, and the Faculty of Law demonstrated the “Turkmen Dance”.
The freshmen of the Faculty of Humanities presented the Belarusian folk dance.
KVN team “Lyokhi 2.0”, the winners of the humorous programme, proved their title of the best comedians among the freshmen.
A talented 1st-year student at the Faculty of Information Technologies, an exotic beauty from Congo, Semira presented to the audience an enchanting song.
At the end, the results of the festival were announced. Associate Professor Pavel Kovalenko, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs and PhD in Engineering, was called up onstage to reward the winners. Besides, Dmitry Shcherbyonok, a student-Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs (under the students’ self-governance day), chairman of the student council at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, came up on stage to congratulate the winners as well.
According to the results of the “Debut-2018”:
- The 3rd degree diploma was awarded to the Faculty of Law;
- The 2nd degree diploma was awarded to the Faculty of Finance and Economics;
- The 1st degree diploma was awarded to the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology.
The three winners of Creative Festival “Debut-2018” for the 1st-year students received precious gifts from the PSU Trade Union Committee.
All the participants of the festive concert came up on stage for the final song.
This significant event of celebrating the International Students’ Day ended with the dances “Student-Party”.
