On February 27 of 2020, a Volvo with a blue flag with a yellow cross on it drove up to the old buildings of Polotsk College. That was the beginning of the visit of the Ambassador of Sweden to the Republic of Belarus to Polotsk State University.
The honoured guests visited our university within the framework of a business trip around the Vitebsk region. First of all, they went on a tour around the Jesuit College in Swedish and saw a well, the University Clock, the Mechanical Head and other sights.
After that, the guests met with more than 50 students of the Faculty of Humanities that study Swedish in the conference hall. During the meeting, the students learned more about the Embassy’s work, the study programmes for Belarusians in Sweden and asked their own questions. We would like to thank the guests for the presents: new books on Swedish literature and culture.
After the meeting, the graduates of the Faculty of Humanities (Sofia Slizhikova, Anastasia Kulikovskaya, Anastasia Pralich and Diana Samus) shared their experience of participation in various study programmes in Sweden (Summer Language Schools, study visits to Stockholm). It was a great opportunity for others to learn about studying in Sweden from the horse's mouth. Later, they watched a film in Swedish together.
At the same time, the library staff held an exhibition of Swedish belles-letters and methodical literature that can be used by all the students at our university.
As a result, the visit turned into a real Day of Sweden at Polotsk State University!
