“The University clock”

In May of 2011, the inner yard of Polotsk College was decorated by an unusual clock. “University Clock” is a symbolic composition. Every hour, the figures of the prominent people of Polotsk land appear from the niches, placed under the clock face, to students’ anthem “Gaudeamus” and an official anthem of PSU. Among the prominent figures there are: Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Francisk Skorina and the first rector of Polotsk Jesuit College Piotr Skarga. They are followed by the generalized characters of a professor and a student. The lyrics author of the PSU anthem is a famous Belarusian poet Hienadz Buraukin and Victor Malykh is a composer.

A similar attraction can be found in 2 more European cities: Cracow and Prague. As well as its “brothers” in Cracow and Prague, Polotsk clock attracts the citizens and numerous tourists every day.
