On December 14-17, 2017 the final meeting of the Steering Committee was held within the joint international project, carried out by Belarusian university-partners with Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (Lund, Sweden). In the Steering Committee Polotsk State University was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Law Irina Vegera and a senior lecturer of the Department of Civil Law, the supervisor of the Street law direction Kristina Savitskaya.

The meeting involved a three-day seminar on the midterm review of the cooperation: «Academic cooperation on human rights in Belarus for 2015-2019».

The results of joint cooperation in 2017 between Polotsk State University and Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law were presented.

The development of the international cooperation has started since 2014. Up to this moment within the intense activity of the Faculty of Law on the implementation of the project there has been reached many results connected with teaching human rights, scientific researches in the field of human rights and gender equality, development of legal clinic, improvement of quality for teaching legal studies.

Plan for joint activities

The participation of students and the academic staff at the Faculty of Law in foreign educational trips, internships and Summer schools, also in international conferences, sociological and scientific surveys, presentations of study programmes for legal clinics within international conferences, workshops with foreign participants, lectures by visiting professors, development of new syllabuses, more than 120 classes on legal issues for schoolchildren, regular legal advice for citizens – this is the result of Law Faculty teamwork in 2017.

During the meeting the Steering Committee also discussed the Plan for joint activities with Belarusian university partners for 2018 that comprises the further development of all cooperation activities with the participation of the academic staff and students at the Faculty of Law.
