On November, 20 the Republican seminar «Increase of financial literacy of the population. The bases of the financial policy of the Republic of Belarus» took place at Polotsk State University with the participation of representatives of Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Tax Collection, National Bank, National Academy of Sciences, heads of the departments and teaching staff of PSU, students of the faculty of Finance and Economics.
The rector of Polotsk State University, doctor of technical science, professor Dmitry Lazovsky warmly greeted all the participants of the seminar and expressed his confidence in the necessity of cooperation between representatives of public authority and sectors of finance, education and science.
The head of the Department of Finance and Trade Economics of PSU, doctor of economic science, associate professor Valentina Bogatyrova announced aims and objects of the seminar.
The head of Macroeconomic policy department Elena Prudnikova-Kirpichonok opened the seminar and announced the most important aspects of the formation and financing of state programs in Belarus.
The head of main department of Ministry of Tax Collection of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Rassolko presented main peculiarities of modern system taxation and also priority directions of its development.
Professor of the Department of bank economics of Belarusian State University, doctor of economic science Lyudmila Stefanovich presented possible structural changes in the system of noncash payment of the Republic of Belarus.
Andrey Zayats, the head of the Department of process Integration Research of the Center of System Analysis and Strategic Research of national Academy of Sceinces of Belarus paid his attention to the importance of financial literacy.
At the end of the first part of the seminar all the participants and guests of the event had a chance to communicate during a coffee-break.
The second part of the Republican seminar was opened by Leonid Ermolovich, First Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Belarus. The theme of his presentation «Budgetary policy at the current stage» was aimed at the increase of profitable part of the Republican budget.
The first deputy chief of the Inspectorate of Ministry of Tax Collection Valery Lobatsevich presented the peculiarities of the system of state regulation of economics.
Valery Samusev, the deputy chief of Economic Department of Vitebsk region Main Department of National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, announced priority directions of National bank system development and also paid attention to the increase of financial literacy in our country.
Oleg Kondratovich, Vitebsk region chairman of «ASB Leasing» of «Belarusbank» reported the perspectives of leasing in Belarus as an effective financial tool for business development.
Then the seminar was continued by the presentation of the candidate of economic science, an associate professor Svetlana Kostyukova, who told about main tools aimed at the increase of financial literacy which are used in the educational process.
The high level of the seminar was confirmed by guests’ great interest about aspects of financial literacy, and especially by the students of the faculty of Finance and Economics who also actively participated in the discussion.
The result of the Republican seminar was the resolution which included the list of considered questions, problems and the description of main solutions.
The participants of the seminar expressed their opinion about the importance of financial literacy increase and also discussed main aspects of solving this problem.
