Oil and gas are the main energy carriers and raw materials for manufacturing. Their processing supplies humanity with lots of different products such as various types of fuel, lubricants, fertilizers and synthetic fabric. That’s why it would be fair to say that oil and gas processing is the leading branch of the world’s industry. Only a few universities train specialists of this sphere, and PSU is the only university training them in Belarus.

The students learn the modern technologies of natural energy carriers (oil and gas) processing and synthesis of organic compounds of fuels, oils, and petrochemical products. They also learn to carry out technological design of processes and equipment with the help of modern software and carry out analysis with the help of physical and chemical methods. The main emphasis is made on practical training. Novopolotsk is the industrial center of Belarus with lots of unique enterprises such as JSC «Naftan» petroleum refinery, a variety of design organizations and JVLL «LLK-NAFTAN» ¬¬– an enterprise with the largest complex technological potential for production of additives in CIS.
