Specialists in mechanical engineering optimize production processes, construct and design various mechanisms, machines and devices, maintain the performance of industrial equipment. Such specialists are trained by the teaching staff of the Department of Technology and Equipment of Machine-building Industry of the Euphrosyne Polotskaya State University of Polotsk.
Students of the specialty ‘Mechanical Engineering Technology, Metal-cutting Machines and Tools’ study a wide range of topics related to metal processing technologies, material science, design, production and operation of metal cutting machines.
While studying, students master advanced technologies for manufacturing high-quality and precise products. The study programme includes many special disciplines that help you understand the technical logic of the machine structure. An important part of education is studying the rules and procedures for developing technological processes and assembling machines, computer-aided design of equipment and tooling, and optimizing processing modes.
Alexander Dudan, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology: ‘The specialty 'Technological Machines and Equipment' is in demand in all sectors of our industry, such as agriculture and industrial production. Chief mechanics, mechanics, chief engineers, and various heads of transportation departments are all positions that require an engineering education, which this specialty provides. Contrary to stereotypes about the low prestige of engineering, the demand for specialists in all enterprises is extremely high. In the future, the salary of engineers will naturally be at a respectable level. As for demand, we receive three times more requests for the distribution of graduates than we have students graduating each year. Therefore, the attitude towards engineering personnel in the country is changing in favor of demand.
The Department of Technology and Equipment of Machine-building Industry is a distinguished team of educators led by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Nikolai Popok. For over 50 years, Professor Anatoly Golembievsky has been a leading educator in the department. Additionally, the faculty includes former industry professionals who possess extensive practical experience. During their studies, students acquire the necessary knowledge to work in engineering positions within the industry’
The focus on practical training for students is one of the main advantages of the Department of Technology and Equipment of Machine-building Industry. The department is the only one among the higher education institutions in the Republic of Belarus where the course ‘Standard Operations of Mechanical Assembly Processes’ has been taught for over 30 years. In this course, students gain their first skills in operating universal machines in the department's laboratories. These skills are then reinforced during industrial internships at enterprises.
Since 2003, the Polotsk University has had a Research School in the field of mobile development of machine engineering production. The activities of the research school are aimed at creating scientific and technological foundations for the rapid reorganization and development of machine engineering productions, taking into account the diversification and customization of the products produced. A methodology has been developed for researching multifunctional productions, high-speed and intensive material processing processes, machines and tools, and automated design of modular technologies and tooling, including subtractive and additive methods. The results of the research and several developments have been implemented in the production processes of enterprises and in the educational process.
The professional activity of graduates in the specialty ‘Mechanical Engineering Technology, Metall-cutting Machines and Tools’ includes:
- development, planning and organization of technological processes
- implementation of drawings and three-dimensional models in specialized software products
- selecting suitable manufacturing methods for parts
- introduction of automation in the production process
- quality control of parts that meet technical requirements
- calculating the economic benefits of solutions
- managing the work of a structural unit and analyzing the results of its work
Become a specialist in demand in the machine engineering industry and contribute to the development of the industry! The application period for budget-funded education will continue until July 17 inclusive.
