On April 21-22, Polotsk State University hosted International Scientific and Technical Conference “Innovative Technologies in Mechanical Engineering” (InnTechMech 2020). The conference was held online for the first time. The conference participants were welcomed by Vice-Rector for Science Yury Golubev, co-chairman of the organizing committee, correspondent of the NAS of Belarus V. Sheleg, vice-chairmen Alexander Dudan, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology, and Nikolai Popok, Head of the Department of Technology and Equipment of Machine-building Industry.
Ten reports were presented at the plenary session. Among the speakers were representatives of 12 scientific and industrial institutions from seven cities of Belarus, Lithuania and Russia. The presentations covered the research outputs of the university and academic science, and the results of implementing discoveries in industry. The reports of researchers and leaders of the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering and the Physical-Technical Institute of the NAS of Belarus were of most interest. Among them were Doctor of Engineering, Professor M. Belotserkovsky, Doctor of Engineering V. Zhornik, Doctor of Physical-Mathematical Sciences V. Zalessky, as well as General Director of Miory Rolling Mill, Doctor of Engineering P. Shimukovich.
The total number of authors declared at the conference was about 60 people. About 50 students of the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology joined the online conference as well. According to the general participants’ opinion, the online conference was successful and useful. Best practices can be shared with others in the future.
