Graduates of the
Polotsk Cadet Corps

The Polotsk Cadet Corps, one of the oldest military educational institutions in Belarus and Russia, was opened on 25 June 1835. Between 1865 and 1882 it functioned as a military gymnasium.

Over its more than 80 years of existence, the corps trained more than 3,000 cadets. Many of them went on to become distinguished military commanders, statesmen, and scholars who made a significant contribution to world science, as well as artists who enriched various fields of culture. The graduates of the corps became true heroes of their Fatherland.

The land of Polotsk, with its traditions and rich history, exerted an exceptional influence on the formation of their professional skills and high moral character. A strong sense of unity and attachment to their “native nest” stayed with the Polotsk cadets throughout their lives.
